You Tube and Free Hugs Mix Well
October 18th 2006 08:08
So anyone who caught 60 Minutes last Sunday night would've been around to watch one of their reporters profile You Tube and discuss the pros and cons of the program.
The whole entire program was highlighted with the Sick Puppies plight to succeed in the record industry - and they produced a video that was based on a guy who takes a day off work a week to give free hugs in Sydney City.
How is this related to Reality TV you ask? Well, technically (without much thought because thinking is stressfull atm), it doesn't but you can say that You Tube is part of the Reality TV phenomenon but in a less manufactured sense.
I watched the real music video (there are others but the one you should be looking out for is the one with more than 3 million hits eek) and I nearly cried! It was that heartwarming and the song worked very well together.
Personally, I'm starting to branch into writing TV ads and music videos as my chosen career and what this guy has produced complete with soundtrack earns a big tick in my books (and you may noticed I am hard to please at times!).
This shows that the most simplest idea in trying to do your bit on the world can help others so much - and become famous for being REAL. While you're all feeling warm and fuzzy, I suggest you go and get yourself a copy of PostSecret by Frank Warren or check out his website http://postsecret.blogspot.com
Oh and for those who haven't seen it, here's the video I'm raving on about.
