High publicity doesn't always mean high ratings for 9

Well looks like Torvill and Dean’s Dancing on Ice crashed and burned after reading this article. The show had nothing going for them the moment those highly paid ice skaters from the 80s were found to be quite uninteresting and unhelpful. So you can tell it wasn’t long before I switched off. I totally missed Lara Bingle which was alright because watching her on TV trying to rub off on her newfound fame was annoying me. Annalise Brakkensiek looked like a robot dancing on the ice (I don’t think it was even dancing) and she obviously didn’t get a tall enough partner. Slats…tight clothes don’t suit him.
That’s all I watched and the show is already bombing. It looks very expensive to produce (at $800 000 an ep that’s not spare change) but the judges are quite unfamiliar-looking and boring as well. Guess we don’t have anyone prominent Aussies who are famous for ice skating…except for Steven Bradbury! And you MUST have a mean guy in there as well who happens to be gay. No surprises there.
And Channel 7 asked Jennifer Hawkins very nicely (sure) to not attend the show to support her handbag Jake Wall. Of course compassion between the two networks ceases to exist these days. Channel 9 must suffer for not signing her up after her reign of Miss Universe was over and there’s no way they can score free publicity with her appearing on the show for 5 seconds! So my inference is that the benchmark of 2 million viewers for ‘Two People Cashing In on Their Name for Doing Nothing but Watch D-Grade “Celebrities” Trying To Skate On Ice’ was cut short by 400 000 viewers, then the hope of having Hawkins appear would’ve set Channel 9 up for a successful debut. Did Nine think that they were going to have a celebrity exchange between the two networks for one night? Of course not, they totally forgot that it’s still ratings season.
Sorry, but the show is a bust for the Nine network.
And in other news…
I am DYING to watch The Hills again. If only someone could upload it somewhere so deprived fans like me can shamelessly watch it! The Hollywood dra-ma, watching Lauren falling flat on her face while trying to multitask a million other jobs. Watching Heidi stuff up and laugh at her for being so blonde (I don’t know how the boyfriend can stand her for that long) and Audrina maneating her way through LA trying to find Mr Right.
I’ll find it eventually! When I do there will be plenty of Heidi-bashing!
