Australian Idol Sunday Night Performances 12/11
November 12th 2006 09:18
Wow, as I write my running commentary on Australian Idol tonight, I am totally blown away at Damien Leigh's performance. Of course, he scored his third touchdown, which is bloody awesome. So great, it moved Marcia to tears, and me!
Jessica Mauboy...yeah...Kyle is kinda right. Her performance sounded a little offkey cos it was two artist keys mashed together. And yeah...not a fan of the dress either. I was hoping for a black and white ensemble than leopard print. Does Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston wear leopard print when they sing big ballads? NO!
A bit disappointed by her performance, it wasn't absolute gold like her previous weeks.
Dean Geyer's performance wasn't THAT great to be honest. And my dislike for him isn't because of him abstaining from sex til marriage. He's like a one dimensional male version of Lisa Mitchell. He's not challenging his voice range unlike Damien and Jessica. I find him irritating cos it's the fans that keep him here, not the talent. IT'S STUPID. Sure, fan base sells records and gives money back to the record companies, but longevity in the business known for a powerful voice? Nope. Looks comes first for this guy. And his version of Waiting for the World to Change was pretty happy dappy compared to how John Mayer performs it with utter passion.
Damien take 2. Awesome. Falsetto and verbrato and singing was awesome. My money is on him to win now.
Jessica take 2...perplexing. I'm a little disapointed that she sang a song and had no idea what the meaning of it was. It might bring her down. And it was a relaxed kinda song, 60s-ish vibe going. Still, effortless voice, but still down about the song choices she made. It didn't really make an impact.
Dean take 2...yawn. Typical boy bander trying to break solo. Who knows, I might be wrong and he'll be in the top 2.
Please don't give him a touchdown...no...no...oh noooooooooooo!
Of course that song he sang will be a number one single. What song HASN'T gotten to number one if they are winning spawn from Idol. Mark Holden really needs to give up on the drugs.
I'm over it.
