Reality TV - November 2006

Damien wins/Source: News.com.au
A big congratumalations for Damien Leith for clinching the title of this year's Australian Idol. While the game was a close call, voters did well and chose who they thought was most deserving.

Althought Jessica Mauboy is a heap of talent, I'm sure she'll get a contract sooner or later.

And hopefully with the new format of letting the singer take however long they like to record an album, it'll work out unlike Casey Donovan this time round.

I reckon his version of 'Night of My Life' is great and surprise surprise, it'll be number one in the next week or so.

Yay!

And congrats to the 30% of people who bet their money on him. Bad luck for the 70% who bet on Jessica.

So Dancing with the Stars has more controversy than the Big Brother turkey slapping incident.

Todd McKenny really needs to shut up. Sure he is entitled to his own opinion but at the rate he's going, he's gonna be reknowned for being an all-round tool who has nothing better to do but harshly criticise people on their dancing skills. I don't see him having a go on that stage - then he should just be quiet.

Sure there are conflicting stories from the media today that Araianne Caoili has 'cheated' her way through to the final of the show by taking dancing lessons prior to the show.

Whoop-dee-doo.

Who else who has entered previous seasons of the show HAS taken dance lessons or in fact DANCED before?

Nikki Webster. Toby from Human Nature. Bec Hewitt (nee Cartwright).

Need I say more?

Sure Todd is cut over the whole lying thing, but really personal attacks on people just isn't needed. This is nothing new and it's a guise to try and get people to watch on Tuesday and see whether the 'lies' and 'betrayal' of competitor honesty gets the better of Arianne and she loses. Or the fact that Todd now makes himself look like an even bigger tool than he already is and she wins.

I'll tell you I won't be watching the show...maybe the last few mins where they announce the winner, instead of Seven trying to extend viewing time by plugging useless upcoming promos and bringing back the old dancers.

So...the end of Australian Idol for 2006 is near. Who's gonna win?

Since I missed the Sunday night show I've had to download the performances myself to watch which is alright cos then you omit the responses from the judges and watch the performances!

I'm impressed that they changed the version of the winner's song to suit the styles of the 2 finalists.

Jessica Mauboy has the pop voice that is highly marketable and has the potential to reach the mass market and is favourite to win but being favourite doesn't always mean you win these days. Not that she can't take it out but 2006 is the year for originality.

Which brings me to Damien Leith (again). Quite a dark horse coming out of nowhere to reach the top 2. Sure he bombed it with the disco theme but after that he's proven he can come up with great original stuff and that falsetto is to die for. His version of the winner's song was great - a stark contrast to Jessica's pop/ballad version. It's clear that his theme is contemporary rock but can it make lots of money for the record company? Maybe.

I love them both, this year has made us stuck for choice with both equal 50/50 to take it out this year. I am however still leaning towards Damien for originality and uniqueness. But Jessica IS mass-marketable and has an equally great (if not better) vocal range that can take her places at only 16 of age.

Who bloody knows! They're both gonna make money.

His hotness is out of the competition/Source: Wiki
So tweenage and teenage girls around Australia are heartbroken now that Dean Geyer is OUT of Australian Idol. I rejoice with glee because there's now competitive TALENT competing for the title.

It was funny to watch the young girls on the higher stage in shock after Dean's name was called. Ahh those were the years when I went crazy for Hanson (shut up) and lived my life for them in primary school. Quite sad.

But those girls needn't worry. Cos of his uber good looks and token hott boy label throughout the comp, I wouldn't be surprised if he got a deal. In fact, he's already got it cos of his token hott boy label throughout the competition. Which is kinda sickening in a way. Predictability means that he's got a lot to live up to, if he bums out with his single...well that's gonna suck a lot for him now? And for the record executives as well who spent thousands grooming him and recording his album.

So who's gonna win? Damien or Jessica?

So far my money is on Damien for all-round talent.

Wow, as I write my running commentary on Australian Idol tonight, I am totally blown away at Damien Leigh's performance. Of course, he scored his third touchdown, which is bloody awesome. So great, it moved Marcia to tears, and me!

Jessica Mauboy...yeah...Kyle is kinda right. Her performance sounded a little offkey cos it was two artist keys mashed together. And yeah...not a fan of the dress either. I was hoping for a black and white ensemble than leopard print. Does Mariah Carey or Whitney Houston wear leopard print when they sing big ballads? NO!

Laguna Beach Episode 13 and 14

November 10th 2006 10:53
I've been a really bad blogger and feel bad for the regulars who come and visit but there's nothing to read! I've got one final exam tomorrow so I've been trying to study hardcore for that. Even though it's only one exam I need like 10% to pass the subject so I need more than half of the exam to pass. Sucks. Wish I was gifted...

Anyways back to ranting about Reality TV!

Guy Wins Celebrity Survivor

November 3rd 2006 03:43
So after so many weeks and twists and turns Guy Leech wins Celebrity Survivor. Funny how the papers haven't bothered to cover it, only the controversy that surrounds what happens behind the scenes.

Now I had my money on David Oldfield to win cos he kept winning immunity and stuff but a reality show isn't without dodgy twists and he ended up losing his spot on the show only to be replaced by ones that were booted off the the show

Axle Whitehead Resigns from Video Hits

November 1st 2006 07:07
Ooh, Axle has resigned! That's a change. He didn't get fired like his ex-Video Hits partner Kelly Cavuoto (who?).

I'm sure PR thought of something good to brief the media. Resigning at his own will was the best choice other than 'we fired him cos he exposed his meat on national TV'.
