Reality TV - October 2006

Axle Whitehead/Source: News.com.au
What a silly boy.

Glad we didn't see it, but Axle was a stupid stupid...male (not man) to expose himself and simulate masturbation at a very important music industry awards night.

Sure, the award looks suss, we all think it is (and pointy too, hate to fall on one of them) but it was necessary. Let's just hope that he was drunk at the time so we can half-forgive him for such stupidity.

I'm really disappointed cos Axle carved a decent career for not making it into Idol. Now he joins Kelly Cavuoto (for those who don't remember she was the staple rock chick in series 1 of Idol) in the scrap heap.

Behind Idol reports that he has been sacked, but this is untrue (for now). The link to the news article has yet to confirm whether he has or not. I'd just like to clear that up because 'rebuked' means to criticise or reprimand, not FIRED.

Well it may happen soon, who knows.

Nevertheless, silly thing to do, we all expect him to be unemployed soon. But knowing Channel 10, they might pull something out of their hat. No surprises there. Seriously.

Is it just me or does door-knocking not exist in Laguna Beach?

Same with driving big cars when there's only 1 passenger and most of the time other passengers are awfully small as well.

About my door-knocking problem, I don't care if Rocky lives on a 5 acre area, all her visitors don't seem to knock on doors. They just freely let themselves in like it's their house. Seriously, I don't do that! Okay, I may have done that once, but male friend didn't come and let me in and the dog was hankering for some loving so obviously I let myself in to give her a pat on the head.

Or seeing that the parents are non-existent in the show, they may be playing bouncers to stay out of sight.

And does Tessa ever seem to go home?

So more dra-ma episode 11 of Laguna Beach. Come on, this has got to be a joke, teenage kids in Laguna are so...strange. It does look like they are trying to bring the drama to them and it was nice to see that Kyndra and Cami barely said a word this week. I've had enough of their bitching but the whole Alex thing is kinda lame for Rocky. He's such an ass that she should just forget about him entirely and should've hooked up with Nick to get him back.

But that might escalate her supposed 'slut' status to...what's the next one up? Cos calling someone a slut is a tough call don't you think?

Alex is such a bitter bitter delinquent (I stop short of man cos he ain't one) I see no traces of her being a slut and it's not as if Nick was totally groping her and vice versa. Sigh. Kids these days.

Can't wait for the next episode, but lets see who randomly lets themselves in Rocky's house next week!

Where oh where is Girlband now?

October 25th 2006 01:55
Finish this sentence - Girlband are now.../Source: Daily Telegraph
I must say, what happened to Girlband? That hugely hyped single of theirs failed to make an impact on the charts. Sure it did make it INTO the charts but at 43 you can hardly call that a successful experiment in trying to create a girl band that can dominate the Aussie charts.

I do like the song, but it's a little hectic. The video stresses me out and the crazy dancing frustrates me. It's not appealing at all. I haven't caught up with the TV series because as I mentioned awhile ago, it being on TV at 11am on a Sunday morning isn't gonna be successful. And how silly does Natalie Bassingthwaite look when she says good night and her dialogue refers to evening television? Bad bad move Ten, now look what a waste of time it was for the girls? And a waste of money for the record company?

But record companies don't admit defeat, they always say something to detract from failure...

"Girlband are a brand new development act for the company and it is still very early stages,'' Sony A& R Director Jay Dee Springbett.

Sure, sure just pull them as quickly as possible so they can get their life back together and earn a decent wage, please?

I wouldn't be surprised if they got an ARIA nomination soon. Anything to get the local music industry moving.

It's kinda scary when my predictions are half right...

The Apprentice

October 23rd 2006 12:37
We are so behind in the land of Oz. For the first time last night I watched The Apprentice. At 11.30pm on a Sunday night. Now, I usuallly work on a Monday but that has since been on hold for uni stuff but still, 11.30pm is a little harsh for us students who are deprived of sleep around this time of year.

If anyone bothers to check the site, it's obvious who won, but loyal readers, I'm not gonna blow it for you if you watch the show.

It's also good timing that I chose to watch it last night because they had to write a jingle for one of those million fash food franchises they got going in what seems to be only existant in New York. Arby's I think was the name and they sold sandwiches or something like that. I was sitting on the edge of my seat (okay I was lying in my bed) watching how people think and work together as a team.

I'm hell excited about watching it last night cos I made it through to the Top 44 of a competition in Queensland called 'Business Icon' and basically it's a mash up of The Apprentice, Survivor, Australian Idol (without the singing), and possibly Dancing with the Stars (without the dancing). So I was watching Trump work his magic and try and be like him without the bad hairstyle and the pout.

Anyways, this team is more fierce than the rest, they seems wiser and driven and the guy that got eliminated, well he just got a big head didn't he? You just want to reach in and slap him if you could, but what stops short of doing so is the fact that it's only TV and we haven't reached that far with technology. And the fact that it's already been broadcast in the US. Sigh. Why oh why Eddie did you HAVE to leave a good show so late on a completely RANDOM day?

I must say though the 'advisers' are tough nuts to crack. Bill Rancic from series 1 thinks he's top shit now that he's an adviser. Whatever. I think he looks like a tool, and I'm surprised that Carolyn is still there - I thought she was fired for exploiting her talents and making money out of it? Same with Robyn, I thought she was fired too for exploiting her talents and making money out of it?

Who bloody knows. But overall, a good show if you're a budding entrepreneur or want a few tips on how to be Donald Trump without the bad orange hair.

Cami and Kyndra/Source: TVgasm
Hi! My name is Cami! You may remember me from that show called Laguna Beach. I featured in season 2 where I went to 'prom' with Jason. And when I say 'prom' with inverted commas it really means something else. I think my breasticles were more popular than my other skillz and that's just bad and I'm gonna go and have a bitchfight with them later.

My bestie Kyndra is the bestest chick ever. Although she's more popular than me out of the two I still love her. We like to talk about lots of stuff, like, how stupid Tessa and Rocky are. They are just total sluts cos they're going out with OUR boy friends. That's, like, so not on! You cannot date people that we hang out with! We OWN them. They are our property and yeah we like to rag on about Tessa cos she has a personality of a wet rat.

You Tube and Free Hugs Mix Well

October 18th 2006 08:08
So anyone who caught 60 Minutes last Sunday night would've been around to watch one of their reporters profile You Tube and discuss the pros and cons of the program.

The whole entire program was highlighted with the Sick Puppies plight to succeed in the record industry - and they produced a video that was based on a guy who takes a day off work a week to give free hugs in Sydney City

OMG what just happened??

My prayers have been answered, sure I didn't expect him to win the competition but to be eliminated tonight was a shock. Didn't think the fans would take it so literally about what the judges said. There were more crappy performers last night but oh well, it was Sideshow Bob's night.

So, wasn't Idol last night a bit strange. Well I found it strange. Sure, it was guitar night and Little Lisa Mitchell was so excited she could burst on stage cos she was reunited with her guitar. How cute. Not really, I didn't find this week very entertaining cos all bar 2 people had a guitars which meant they were sitting in one spot strumming and singing at the same time.

My other gripe is the unfair advantage they had. Yeah, they were sitting in one spot (except for Dean who thought it was cool to throw away his guitar to make it a little more entertaining) so it wasn't what you call 'entertaining'. But for Jessica and Ricky who didn't have guitar skillz and were relegated to sing songs that suited their style left them at a bit of a disadvantage

Lavina Williams GOONNNEEEE

October 10th 2006 11:52
What an upset, we all though Damien was gone tonight, but no, Lavina 'My Sister is Emily' Williams.

I'm shocked, I don't think she was good enough as her sister, the judges kept pushing her to be better (how I don't know) and she made it through halfway. A lot of people might think she's trying to imitate Emily's success but I disagree. She never mentioned her sister and I never thought about Emily while Lavina performed. I liked her personality but fan base is how you get through. Such a shame she's gone.
