America's Next Top Model Cycle 7 Ep 1 Round Up

After devoting nearly 2 hours watching the first episode of ANTM Cycle 7 (I skipped a few bits and no I don't have TiVo hehe), I have to say, finding a model is easier than finding a new Idol.

However, different types of reality TV have different issues. ANTM makes you want to reach in and throw punches at the potential models (noticed how I still say that) who are bitchy and rude and damn right annoying.

But some can pose okay.

So here's my picks and misses for the Top 13.

AJ/Source: CW

AJ - She's pretty and different from the rest, her best shot for model stereotypes last was pretty good (but the guy who was playing the casting couch guy is freaky - I wouldn't want to straddle him like AJ). I like how she isn't the typical model, she'll go far.

Amanda/Source: CW

Amanda - one of the twins who are competing against each other, I think she's pretty as well. Pretty ordinary. But I pick her and the better looking one out of the two. She looks like she can pose.

Anchal/Source: CW

Anchal - vying for the first Indian girl to win ANTM. Methinks this isn't likely because she is Indian and as much as Tyra will say she is gorgeous, Anchal's issues with her looks may bring her down.

Brooke/Source: CW

Brooke - one of the youngest girls. Typical cute pretty girl, she just made it in the top 12 for the next ep but needs to really work on her posing skills if she wants to stay.

CariDee/Source: CW

CariDee - I liked her shot for the 'dumb blonde' stereotype but her nekkid shot was pretty awful. She needs a little personality because I didn't realise she existed.

Christian/Source: CW

Christian - first to go, her shots weren't very exciting. Not a lot to say really.

Eugena/Source: CW

Eugena - forgot she existed too. The judges raved on about her white girl photo (if you haven't seen it she's African-American), but I don't see what's so good about it. She'll make halfway.

Jaeda/Source: CW

Jaeda - I hardly recognise her from her 'plastic surgery' shoot but it was quite powerful. Her poses were quite generic so we're yet to see if she can pull it off later on.

Megan/Source: CW

Megan - you pronounced her name wrong it's 'Meg-gin' and I think it's a silly way to pronounce it when it's obviously 'Mee-gan'. Her photoshoot was okay but she looked like Miss Piggy because her face wasn't angled properly towards the camera. Cute urchin look going, wonder what they'll do to her in the make over bit.

Megg/Source: CW

Megg - rocker chick, crazy girl. I think she'll become the swann if she can keep on going. Her personality is a bit irritable at times.

Melrose/Source: CW

Melrose - the new Jade! I could say so much but I'll hold back. Diva, total poser, this girl is determined to win even if everyone will hate her. They shouldn't have given her the prize of a PA during the shoot cos it did go to her head and even though the shoot was about model stereotypes she was personifying all of those stereotypes (but I stop short of crack whore).

Michelle/Source: CW

Michelle - ah Plain Jane. I think she's just in it for the 'omg you're a twin' promo. I find her very bland, more bland than her sister Amanda. She's like a blank canvas that you can paint and pretty up when you need to, seems kinda boring to me.

Monique/Source: CW

Finally Monique - another bitch to deal with. She was getting frustrated because she couldn't get her diva shot - how hard can that be?? Throw the damn fone to the assistant! Hell I can get it in the first shot! Wait and see but not likely.

My top 3...AJ, Megg and Jaeda.

Next to go...(risky choice) Brooke.

Laguna Beach S03E06 Review

So we’re up to episode 6 of Season 3 of Laguna Beach and the drama never seems to end!

This episode shows Cameron gearing up for his party and Kyndra hooks back up with a MUCH OLDER EX-BOYFRIEND (3 years older to be exact OMG!!). This week’s ep is much more entertaining than the last one which was absolutely deplorable by my LB standards.

And featured this week are Jessica Smith and Alex H. It’s nice to get bit more of a storyline going from the last seasons but Jessica really needs to grow up. It’s embarrassing watching her pine after a boy who’s still IN HIGH SCHOOL. What is she even doing with her life besides Laguna? Nothing it seems, still trying to milk it through this show.

Kyndra rekindles her relationship with Tyler who, as I mentioned previously, is a WHOLE 3 YEARS OLDER THAN HER. Like omigosh lets me a HUGE-ASS deal about it on TV and make her look really hott and all cos she dated a boy who was older than her. Then again dating someone older than her is better than someone younger than her (re: Jessica). Did I mention during the relationship talk Tyler told viewers that his shirt cost $500??? Useless random statement, and this guy goes to college? Kyndra needed air time on TV so she decided to take Tyler back for the episode. Then she ruined it 10 minutes later by making AN EVEN BIGGER DEAL during dinner that he was older than her. Tyler was obviously not impressed that she was whining away cos then he couldn’t talk about how much his shirt costs and after a few minutes of them exchanging less-than-impressed facial expressions to each other we cut away to Cameron’s party.

Tessa just cannot spot the player in Cameron. And she cannot go home either. She practically LIVES at Rocky’s place every episode. Since last week’s episode Cameron was dishing out sayings like ‘I want a relationshp’, ‘you’re hott’ etc etc, after what seems like a boozy night for everyone. And as horny Laguna teenagers do when they’re boozed up is hook up with each other. Don’t you think it’s a bit early on to hook up with someone if you want a relationship with anyone? From experience I think this statement is correct.

Anyways, she hooks up with him, gushes to Rocky the next day that she likes him a lot (again) and was ready to profess her love to him at his birthday party in episode 6.

Obviously in true MTV style, her keen-as-mustard feelings were crushed.

Jessica was obviously ready to hook in with a boy who’s no good for her (and he was hooking in with a girl who’s that desperate for some action because she doesn’t seem to have goals in life except for staying on the show way beyond her expiry date).

And as you do, Tessa walks in, sees them together than immediately rushes out crying like a retard. Well we didn’t see the crying like a retard bit but it’s kinda obvious that the guy just cannot get his priorities right. Tessa should really focus on herself for awhile other than stupid boys who can’t commit to one girl.

And then to close we see more of how much a wanker Cameron is for pretending that he was in the water while Tessa called wanting a chat.

Stay tuned for episode 7, I hear Kyndra wants some more action.

By the way, what is Lexie’s role in the show? She’s just filling in time at the starting credits or what? Seeing how many more times Jessica appears on the show than Lexie, they might as well replace Lexie for Jessica.

Guy Sebastian nearly quits showbiz cos people thought he was gay

So I read that Guy Sebastian wanted to quit the business because of people calling him gay when he moved to Sydney.

I think Guy should forget about those idiots who are jealous of his success and move on. After all he’s the longest surviving Australian Idol who’s ever carved a decent career after being featured on TV. And Australia's biggest known virgin (waaayyy ahead of Katie from BB for sure).

Now many would snigger because this guy hasn’t had sex for his entire life, but that’s cool, it’s his choice. But to quit because people assume he is gay is just ridiculous. Can you see what may happen? Girls and boy fans would just stop dating people to protest against Guy’s departure from showbiz, and the birth rate will go down and Howard would try and convince Guy to come back so people can pop out more kids to get the economy going again!

Or not.

I can see it from his point of view that random people coming round egging his house just cos they thought he was gay hurts cos he didn’t do anything to provoke it. Bloody hell you idiots, do you think Julie Egan would stick it out for this long to pretend she was his girlfriend? It's not like TomKat, you know.

I may be rambling but that was just a quick thought.

Australian Idol Top 11 Verdict

Well I’ve been on hiatus the last few days because of uni exams and the Placebo concert last night BEFORE my exam today. So you can see what kind of situation I’m in!

Hopefully things will be slowly getting back on track so I can still blog about TV!

Goooonnnneeee/Source: Ten

So, Idol that I missed last night. I hear that Reigan Derry is goneskies. Damn straight she’s gone. Bad song choice and that note that she cracked at the end was awful. Sorry, no one votes for people who sing songs that nobody else knows. Sure she was being patriotic about her home state and sings a local band’s song but do the rest of the voters of Australia know what that song is? Nope.

She says she'll be back? I'm waiting for the day...

Kyle, as mean as he is, he was right when he told her that it was a stupid song choice. It was a stupid song choice! Even I was mortified.

I kinda knew she wasn’t going to be going far. Since she covered I Wish I Was a Punk rocker in the semis with that awful accompaniment I expected something ‘different’ about her. She had a nice try with George’s Breathe last week but it wasn’t enough to keep her out of the bottom 3.

I was really impressed with Lavina’s version of Bring Me to Life. So much so that I nearly fell off my chair. She may seem a bit of a diva cos her sister was in the show but wow. Absolute awe.

Lisa Mitchell really needs a reality check. Idol every week doesn’t mean she can aimlessly wander around the stage to sing a song. She’ll get killed off next time if she does it again this week.

And this’ll probably be the last time you hear it, but Bobby Flynn pulled off a nice rendition of a song I’ve never heard of. Wasn’t rocky but whatever he got through. I’m rooting for everyone else.

Jamie's Kitchen Australia

Jamie’s Kitchen Australia is a subsidiary out of the original Jamie’s Kitchen where Jamie Oliver opens up a restaurant that’s run by disadvantaged kids in the UK. So successful was the venture that he wanted to do one in Melbourne as well.

Now, as much as I think it’s a great idea for him to take the initiative and help change kids’ lives, did it really have to take someone from overseas to do that? Like, couldn’t some other local person decide to do it and gain recognition to do so? Or would that be because Jamie is a prominent chef who won’t stop at nothing? I choose the latter.

America's Next Top Model Cycle 7

Well I’ve been highly slack with my updates, it’s been a big week for me personally, and in the media. But in comparison to what’s been happening here that’s affected millions of people, my dilemmas are a very minute impact.

I must acknowledge the tragic news that very real to all of us. I’m very shocked and saddened to hear about Peter Brock being killed while racing in WA today – we obviously didn’t see that coming. We obviously are still grieving for the death of Steve Irwin and this just adds to it. As I mentioned in Glen’s Sport Talk blog, it’s like Princess Diana’s passing plus one more. And don’t forget Colin Thiele and the Democrats founder Don Chipp passed as well! It’s all happening at once…

Laguna Beach S03E02

So much dra-ma for the new kids/Source: MTV

So we are currently up to the third episode of Laguna Beach. Now, so far the season has been quite a bitchfest if I say so myself. It’s just all about cliques who don’t like each other so for 20 minutes a week (excluding ads of course) we sit and watch one group bitch and bitch and bitch about another group.

Nothing has really changed except for MTV pushing to create identities for the girls and guys and typecast them by season’s end.

Your Top 12 of Australian Idol is a bit disappointing

So the semi-finals of Australian Idol are over for another year and we have our top 12. I found the Wildcard round to be so boring than the previous years. None of them took up the opportunity that it was a Wildcard round and it was their last shot to get in so they should TOTALLY change themselves. But did they listen? No, of course not. They just sang THEIR own style. One perfect example is Brendan Boney who mashed up two songs. Now, Kyle hinted the other night that they sing popular songs. So Brendan mashed up Maroon 5’s This Love and Rob Thomas’s Lonely No More. Both songs are very popular on mainstream radio so technically they are so well-known he must kill these songs even more by singing it. I wasn’t impressed.

I’m sorry, but this batch of wildcards was so mediocre I turned off the TV after Klancie Keough. Now this girl is worthy of her spot because she totally let herself go in this round to try and get in. To me, Klancie is the new Cosima De Vito, only more country. I’m glad she’s in the top 12. But one thing she can work on is her movement whilst singing. She looked a little robotic performing Gretchen Wilson's Redneck Woman.

Australian Idol Semi-Final 4

Well Thursday night’s chosen 2 weren’t a big surprise. Sure, it was highly predictable, but they are talent who have a lot of show for later in the competition. It may sound biased but I think Lavina will go a long way and as much as she’s trying to work away from the success of little sister Emily, she will have that backing throughout the competition. It’ll be a tragedy if she got voted our halfway through and not last until the end.
